We practice sustainability in all of our decision making and we make sure we are consistent in keeping our products local, healthy, and transparent. Even though it might be convenient to have the same ingredients available year-round, we strive to provide resources to adapt to a seasonally changing food list. We are so lucky to have a 365 day growing season, let’s learn together how to make that work for us, not against us.
We deliver anywhere in Sacramento county. If you live outside of this area but are interested in our services, please contact us and let us know. With community support from people like you, we hope to be able to extend our delivery area in order to serve you.
Harvest to order means that produce is harvested from the farmers’ fields only after you have placed your order. That way the produce is incredibly fresh, coming from the field to your doorstep within 1-2 days. It doesn’t get fresher than that unless you have your own backyard garden! While most of our produce will be harvested to order, there are some items that are kept naturally fresh without using pesticides or degrading in taste or quality. These items include onions, garlic, squash, and potatoes. Some of these items even improve after curing time such as garlic and potatoes, so they can be stored for longer in your pantry.
In order to make sure our food is as healthy and sustainable as possible, we have strict criteria for all of the products we sell. The 5 pillars of our sourcing decisions are location, nutrition, sustainability, animal welfare, and a valued workforce. Read our Sourcing Criteria guidelines here.
Currently we only deliver on Wednesday evenings. As our small business grows, we will likely deliver on more days.
Unfortunately, we are unable to deliver outside of Wednesdays. If you are unavailable during the delivery window, perhaps you could consider asking a neighbor or friend to hold your package for you.
While our local climate allows for a 365 day growing season, there are some things that can only grow at certain times of year, and other things that just can’t grow here at all. We will provide you with recipes and other resources to embrace the seasonal bounty of our region, like cherries and asparagus in spring, tomatoes and melons in summer, leafy greens and pumpkins in fall, and brussels sprouts and citrus in the winter! While bananas, pineapple, and mangoes are so delicious, they just don’t grow well around here, so you will never find them on our list of products.
No commitments are necessary! You can try an order just once, or you can subscribe and cancel anytime.

Yes! It helps if you provide lobby or courtyard access instructions, otherwise we will leave your order in front of the apartment entry and notify you when your order is delivered.

We source our produce from less than a 100 mile driving distance from Sacramento, although most of our farmers are located within 60 miles. We only source from small to mid-sized farms that adhere to our strict sourcing criteria. You can learn more about our sourcing criteria here and our farms [coming soon].

Most of our produce is organic, however getting organic certified is not realistic for some small farms due to costs, although we make sure they are still using organic practices. Our sourcing criteria actually goes beyond organic standards, because it’s important for us to provide you with the most fresh, healthy, and sustainable food possible.
We’re glad you asked! Different foods require different storage methods. See our storage guidelines [coming soon].
Sustainability is a broad term that is defined differently by many different people and organizations. We take a holistic approach that considers biodiversity, climate change, and local economies. Our sourcing criteria prioritizes the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and promotes populations of native species including birds and pollinators. Most of our packaging is either biodegradable, recyclable, or reusable. We are working with our growers to avoid the use of plastic packaging.
100% of our products meet our sustainability definition. You can see our sourcing criteria here.
Some delicate products like berries need to be packed into smaller containers like plastic clamshells. We are working with our growers to find more sustainable solutions.
